When I began my Japanese studies in Kyoto from 2014 - 2015, I set up Toji in Japan to chronicle my time and experiences as an international student in Japan. After returning home to Australia, I kept this blog up as an archive of my time in Japan. One year later, I secured a job in Japan as an Assistant Language Teacher (ALT), and began updating Toji in Japan once more.
Now, I have an office job at a Japanese company. Until March 2022, I worked as an ALT. While I have lived and worked here since mid-2016 across a few different towns, I don't think my Japanese skills are quite there yet, despite spending 4 years studying Japanese at university, including spending one year as an exchange student in Kyoto before this job. So, while working and studying for the JLPT (aiming for N1 now!), I thought I'd write about my experiences about life in Japan, whether it be about work, current affairs, or anything that might be happening in the news in Japan.
I also have another website which I have maintained since 2001, Toji's World. While not updated as frequently as this blog, I've still put a lot of love in to that site over the years. Alternatively, if you want to see something that is essentially a relic of the early 2000s and are a fan of the popular anime series, Evangelion, feel free to check out my work in progress Evangelion fansite, Return of the Magi.
